The new build private residence, Fieldsend, in Woking, Surrey was awarded 3rd place prize of “Commended” at the CIAT AT Award for Excellence in Architectural Technology 2017, the winners were announced and presented at an awards ceremony on 15th September 2017.

Fieldsend was shortlisted with 5 other impressive projects, Mitchell Evans are delighted to receive this prestigious award for our contemporary house.

The open plan accommodation and large glazed areas led to a steel frame superstructure, with infills of insulated timber framing and cavity blockwork. The timber frame is finished externally in zinc with standing seams continuing over the roof. The blockwork section between the perpendicular wings is finished in render with a concealed GRP flat roof.

The house features a ground source heat pump, solar PV panels and a MVHR system, these along with high thermal insulation and excellent air tightness provides a very efficient and comfortable house.

The awards, held in the Village Underground in Shoreditch, were attended by David Mitchell and Colin Miller, along with the client and main contractor, this is the first year CIAT have hosted a standalone event for the Awards, with the Village Underground being a perfect venue to showcase the best in architectural technology.
